Only one more day to go! Below is most of our group, looking respectable and on our best behavior. (Minus one . . . Tori, you were with us in spirit!)

Now, THIS is how we normally look and act, a little more relaxed and a lot more goofy!

On Saturday, we met as a team for the last time before our departure. We shared questions we had, went over logistics, and finalized our game plan for the VBS lessons we’ll present in the DR. Probably the most exciting part of the day was learning three Spanish songs that we’ll be teaching to the children there.

Andrea, who’s fluent in Spanish, was kind enough to help us pronounce the words and learn the lyrics, as well as some movements to go along with them.

As we make our final preparations, please pray that we’ll be able to complete the work and family commitments needed before we leave home. Also, some in our group are dealing with physical issues that might make the trip uncomfortable, so prayer for healing would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, please pray for our mental well-being since some of us are feeling anxious about what the trip will be like. For some, this is their first time flying or their first time traveling to another country. Pray that we’ll practice what we preach . . . that we’ll trust the Lord, let go of our fears, and move forward with peace in our hearts, knowing that our lives are in His loving hands.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” ~ 1 Peter 5:7

3 days until takeoff! We’re getting excited that our wait is almost over, and we’ll soon be on our way to the DR. A little about us . . . we’re a group of 6 adults and 7 teens (some shown above) who attend York Alliance Church in York, Pennsylvania, and we’ve all signed up to spend part of our summer volunteering together in a developing country. Why? Well, we’re all a little bit crazy. J

Why else would we fly toward the equator in the heat of summer? Why would we leave the comfort of our air conditioning, the safety of our homes, the love of our families to travel to a foreign place? Temporary insanity, yes, but it’s more than that. We’re following the example set by Someone a long time ago. Jesus himself left heaven (a place way more comfortable than York, PA) and came to earth to serve the needy, to love the broken, and to reach the lost. It’s our goal to do the same in the DR.

Stay tuned to hear more about our adventures . . . and our efforts to help the people we meet!

The Team is in final preparations for our June 28th departure. We are glad to have you along with us for the trip. We hope the blog will give you snapshots of our journey so you can see how our Amazing God is allowing us to be His hands and feet as we serve on mission in the Dominican Republic. Check back often for updates, we will post as we can.
